New Orleans Conference Habitat for Humanity

New Orleans Conference Habitat for Humanity Today is day one of the full conference tomorrow is day two and the last day. I present tomorrow on home office productivity, focusing on tools I use in my office the presentation is based on this and this blog posts. Because were here during the annual Jazz Festival it was pretty hard to find a hotel for the conference.  Therefore, I am bouncing between three hotels.  I got in late on Tuesday, met my roommate (Sir LinkedALot), and crashed for the night.  The next morning I was up at 6am (5am my time), got ready and dragged my luggage and laptop a mile to the 2nd hotel (where the conference is). Not a big deal, since Im in such great shape ?? The rest of the day, until about 4:30, I did my first Habitat for Humanity project.  It was a lot of fun. here are some pics.  I hope the people who get these homes can have peace and satisfaction in their new homes, and that they can know that we had fun and worked on their homes in the spirit of love and service. By lunchtime we were feeling pretty energetic. This is Donna Sweidan of CareerFolk, showing us why no one messes with her. (I didnt feel this energetic by the end of the day!) Steve Gallison of POAC pointing to the flood line it was about 5 to 5.5 feet from the ground amazing. Im not sure what happened here was I posing?  Did a rat run over my foot?  Had I just hit my thumb with a hammer?  You guess Que Pasa?? There were 10 of us who came to New Orleans early and spent the day in service it was a lot of fun, we got to know one another better, and it was really fulfilling ! Budget Money While Renting

How to Save/Budget Money While Renting If you are like most adults, you would love to find a way to save more money on a regular basis. When you own a home, you may benefit from having a portion of your monthly mortgage payment allocated toward equity. When renting an apartment or home, you do not have this benefit. In fact, you may live on a tight budget and may think there is no way you can save money based on your current circumstances. While it is reasonable to feel this way, the reality is that most people can make a few changes to free up money that could be used for savings regardless of their home ownership status. Eliminate Wasteful Spending As a starting point, review your current bank statements. Look for any expenses that are not necessary, such as a recurring withdrawal for a gym member that you have not used in months or a magazine subscription. Then, turn your attention to your regular budget. Consider how shopping for lower insurance rates or switching to Internet-based TV can help you to save money. You may even look for a more affordable town to live in. When you research the best places to live in Washington state for renters or homeowners, for example, you can learn more about the more affordable areas of the state to live in.  Shop With Savings in Mind To save money, you understandably need to curb spending. However, when you do shop for food, clothes and more, always look for savings. With almost all types of purchases, you can time your purchase to benefit from a sale, or you can use promotional coupons and discounts. You simply have to make the effort to plan your purchase well ahead of time and to research them first rather than make an impulsive buying decision.  Consolidate Credit Cards Many people have multiple high interest rate credit card debts. Each month, you may be paying your creditors hundreds of dollars in interest. Consolidating this debt into a low interest rate consolidation loan can save you money on interest charges. It can also help you to pay the debt off more quickly. Get Another Job Man people will make the above efforts and will discover that they can free up several hundred dollars or more by following the tips and suggestions provided. However, if you are serious about saving a lot of money quickly, getting a second job is a great idea. With a second job, you will be able to earn more money in the evenings and on the weekends. In addition, because you are working, you will not be inclined to spend money on frivolous things during this period of time.  Make Lifestyle Changes Another step you can take to save even more money is to make easy lifestyle changes. For example, you may have a lifestyle that is dependent on fast food. By eating at home rather than at fast food restaurants, you can save a ton of money. In addition, you may even improve your health as a side benefit. Create Goals After you have followed these steps, you may have access to a tremendous amount of extra money each month. Rather than spend the money frivolously, make goals to improve your financial life. For example, create a goal to fully fund a rainy day savings account by the end of the year, or open a retirement account and start making regular monthly deposits to it. Make a Budget Now that you have extra money available as well as financial goals that you want to meet, you need to create a realistic budget. Many aspects of your budget may have changed, so be prepared to start from scratch if necessary. Your budget should include line items and regular monthly allocations for your goals. For example, one line item may be for your rainy day fund, and another one may be for your retirement account. Finding money to save is not easy to do. Each one of these tips requires specific, focused effort on your part to accomplish. However, each tip is reasonable, and each will provide you with significant benefits. Follow through on these action items today to start enjoying their benefits soon.

15 Interview Philosophies That Attract Job Offers

15 Interview Philosophies That Attract Job Offers Philosophy and recruiting? Why not. One of the philosophies that our recruiters adhere to is that if, as a candidate, you’re going to attend an interview, you might as well perform at 110% during the meeting. Regardless of the individuals whom you’re interviewing with or the level of job you’re pursuing, the recruiting team at KAS Placement has formulated 15 interviewing tips that, when implemented, should convert to a job offer. Come across in the interview as someone who wants to be there:  Be someone who is confident that you are the right person for the position and as someone candid and fully invested in the conversation. Go into the interview with an end-goal of getting the job offer:  Thats all you need to focus on. Many times, when we take a moment to envision success and the rewards it brings, we are a lot more likely to do well. Talk in terms of what the interviewer wants:  Too often, we think only about what we want and dont realize that the best way to get what we want is to meet the needs of the interviewer, and only then expect the interviewer to give us what we want, not the other way around. Know where you want to be in 1, 3, and 5 years:  To achieve maximum career results, we have to set firm goals and relentless pursue them. Be positive:  Regardless of position, interviewers are going to hire people who are self-confident, optimistic, energetic, passionate and engaging people. Learn how to focus:  Through concentration a person is able to collect his or her mental and physical energies into the interview. This is as opposed to the individual who lets his or her brain wander from topic to topic. When your brain is 100% engaged, you can’t be nervous or self-critical both of which severely hurt your ability to persuade a hiring manager or recruitment professional. People want to hire leaders:  Leaders are described as those who are problem solvers, who are selfless, who put the company first, who want to grow others, who are team players, and who are able to predict everyday hurdles and overcome them. Interviewers are just as prone to feeling badly about rejection as the interviewee is:  Show the interviewer that you care and youre more than 50% there. Be aware of your body language:  In a job interview setting, when an employer is making a decision about competency and fit within an organization, the most successful candidates displayed consistent vocal tone and maintained fluid body movements. When giving answers, dont second guess yourself:  Rather, explain things in a thorough, honest and positive manner. Its the best we can do. We cant control what an interviewer does, but we can control how we act. Adapt to the interviewers style:  Dont ever expect an interviewer do adapt to your personality. Some interviewers will just want the answers and thats what you should give them. Others will want to have a casual conversation, so schoomze with them. Never take the way an interviewer conducts an interview personally:  Rather, consider it to be their sense of interviewing style and have faith that the interviewer is smart enough to pass you through to the next round. People like to hear their names:  Its like music to our ears. We come across as more assertive and personalized when we address people by their first names. Thank the interviewer for their time:  Too often, we think about how important our time is, but dont realize that everyone thinks that way. Always make sure to follow up with an email thanking the person and including notes on some of the takeaways and thoughts you have from the interview. People love sincere compliments:  Find something that you like about the firm. In the End: Accomplished interviewers are never satisfied with their current knowledge and continually seek every opportunity available to gain new, pertinent knowledge. They understand that the secret of success is to try to always improve yourself no matter where you are or what your current position is and future aspirations are.

Can You Really Find Customer Service Resume Samples Free?

Can You Really Find Customer Service Resume Samples Free?Is it true that you can't find customer service resume samples free on the internet? This is a very common myth that is spreading fast around. Most people who believe this aren't even sure if they need to contact the person behind the sample resume and ask them for one or not. This article will show you why this is not true and also what you can do about it.Many companies use the internet to contact job applicants and to place job ads. This happens because it's much easier for a human being to type up a resume on a computer than to walk down the street and hand write a document. The reason that many companies have staff or managers post job listings online is so they can get a much larger variety of resumes to go through. More resumes means better chances of hiring the right candidate for the job that they are looking for.So, when a person goes through the process of posting a resume on a company website they are faced with the problem of how to get that resume on the first page of those listings. This is another issue that has to be addressed because the quality of a resume doesn't really matter unless it gets past the first page. This is why many companies put so much effort into posting quality resume samples that can be used as sample resumes on any resume writing site. But if you've been provided with one then it's not so easy to find a site that allows you to download that resume. So it isn't true that you can't find free resume samples on the internet. It's just that the amount of information and documentation needed for any one resume will take more time than someone using a web-based system has. And the reason that you need all the documentation and information is so that you can be sure that you are getting the best resume possible. Most companies would be happy to give a resume sample toan employee who may be seeking employment from them so that they can be sure that the resume is true to life an d should be considered when it comes time to advertise. If a resume was passed around that was put together by a person who didn't read it through properly then it would be nothing more than a waste of time. That's not what happens with sample resumes, they are thoroughly edited by the company that created them in order to ensure the resume is accurate and not a waste of their time. You can find a free resume anywhere on the internet. You just have to know where to look and then take some time to read through the material. You want to make sure that the information that you are reading is free and clear enough that you can start creating your own.If you cannot read through the resume and make sure that it is accurate then you should probably consider creating your own resume. Creating a free resume is possible if you really want to do it because most of the companies that offer customer service resume samples are completely open to sharing them. They understand that people want to be able to use their information for free so that they can take advantage of it.So the next time you get a chance to see a resume on the internet that you like but you aren't sure is the best fit for you, don't dismiss it without trying it out first. Make sure you are confident in the resume before you take it seriously.

Confessions of a bookie - The Chief Happiness Officer Blog

Confessions of a bookie - The Chief Happiness Officer Blog Tucsons local bookie, The Baron, wants to quit, and the Tucson weekly has a very interesting and funny article about it: The Baron wants out. Hes had enough. Enough of the all-nighters, the booze, the bad habits and most of all, the degenerate gamblersthe DGs, as he calls emand their worthless excuses when it comes time to pay up. Its a gut wrench, this life, the local bookie says with a shrug as he orders a White Russian to calm his stomach. This quote caught my eye: Men dont bet to win, he says. They bet to almost lose. What he means: The gambling high only lasts while the action is in question. If youre up 50 points at halftime, youre no longer even interested in watching the game. But if youre only winning by a field goal, youre glued to the set, cursing every blown play and turnover, gleefully howling with every first down. Thats kinda interesting, because it could be part of the drive behind your typical entrepreneur also. As long as a project is new and shiny and in doubt, its interesting. Once it really gets going and its a sure thing, its no longer interesting. Men dont bet to win, they bet to almost lose. Thats poetry. Thanks for visiting my blog.
